Suicide Prevention Month
Dear Frazer Families,
We hope this message finds your child enjoying an exciting start to the new school year!
A new school year – as with any major change – can also bring added stress and emotion for some. Did you know that positive relationships with caring adults often serve as a protective factor for children and teenagers experiencing emotional distress?
September is Suicide Prevention Month; and in an effort to ensure that all students feel secure and supported, we encourage families and community members to check in with the young people in their life. Strive to be a safe, welcoming sounding board, offering a caring and curious outlet for your child to engage.
Attached, please find a graphic highlighting questions you may consider asking the children and teens in your life – as well as warning signs of a potential mental health crisis and community resources for added support.
If you have questions or concerns about how to best support your child, please contact your school team directly, or reach out to our trusted partner, Contact Community Services, at (315) 251-1400. By fostering trusting relationships and maintaining a culture of belonging, we increase the likelihood that students will share concerns before they become crises.
