Important SCSD Communications Update

Posted Date: 05/28/26 (05:15 PM)

Dear Families,

Beginning next school year, all SCSD schools will transition to a single communication system: ParentSquare. This means that your child’s teachers will begin using ParentSquare instead of TalkingPoints for all school communications. TalkingPoints will no longer be in use after June 30th.

You may be somewhat familiar with ParentSquare, as school and district leaders have been using the platform to communicate with families for the last two school years.

To help you learn how to use ParentSquare to communicate with teachers and school staff, we will be offering virtual video trainings as well as guides that you can print out. Stay tuned!

Q&A

Why are we switching?
Families have shared that keeping track of messages across multiple apps can be challenging. ParentSquare will simplify communication by giving families one place to receive messages from teachers, school leaders, and district staff.

How will I get messages?
You will continue to receive emails or text messages even if you do not create an account. If you download the ParentSquare app, you can also receive push notifications directly on your phone.

Do I need to register?
Families will receive an email invitation to register for ParentSquare every other Monday (July 6th - September 8th) until they register. Registration is optional, but it unlocks helpful features such as signing permission slips, RSVPing for events, scheduling conferences, and more.

What if I previously opted out of receiving messages?
If you have opted out of receiving text messages, it is important that you opt back in so you do not miss communication from your child’s teachers. To opt in, text the word START to 66458.

What should I do now?
Download the free ParentSquare app and watch for upcoming information session dates.

Thank you for your partnership as we work to make communication clearer and easier for all SCSD families!
